GLOBAL ISSUES (Ballweg)
The goal of the course is to help students recognize and understand some of the most important issues and problems that are affecting life on the planet. Using an interdisciplinary approach, this course will explore how the problems arose and presents some of their possible solutions. During the course we will examine issues related to the wealth and poverty of nations, population growth, food supply and use, energy consumption and consequences, war and conflict, the environment, and positive and negative aspects of technology. At the end of the course students will be encouraged to think about alternative futures for the world.
